Days- Part 2: Terryglass

We have been to the Terryglass Arts Festival a few times, and have always enjoyed it; plenty happening and Terryglass itself is utterly charming. We went on a Friday, so it wasn’t as packed as before and we could get parking in the village.

hol 5We walked up to the school where there was an art exhibition of Ruth Castles artwork, workshops of wood turning and jewelry making going on. In all, there are over 50 workshops throughout the weekend, and a family fun day on Sunday with concerts and puppets shows too.

Gerardine Wilson Sculptures

We popped into a most charming shop of up cycled and vintage furniture in the old church called Revived & Retro, bought icecreams, and looked at the fantastic straw sculptures dotted around by the artist Gerardine Wilson, which was the highlight of the festival, for us.

hol7We then walked down to the quay, to see more of Gerardine Wilson’s incredible floating sculptures: the detail is stunning. We spent ages looking and talking about them before heading to the playground for a play and then wandering back to the car. We bought chips (fries) on the way home, which was the icing on the cake really! 🙂
