Review: Just-Eat.ie

I was asked to write a review in exchange for a voucher, for, much to my children’s utter delight, “Just-Eat.ie“. Just Eat is a worldwide portal for ordering food online from takeaways and restaurants. In our house, takeaway food is the biggest treat (that and ham sandwiches on white sliced bread) so I knew that this would be an easy order to fulfill. Or so I thought. I forgot that life can just get in the way, and my time to order and write the accompanying post was slowly slipping through my fingers… So the last time I was up with my parents in Athy, I decided to order through just-eat.

I have to admit that I was a bit worried about the set-up, and ordering online as most similar websites are weep-inducing and I end up with caverns in my forehead from digging my nails into it.

But I have to say that it was simply the easiest set-up ever. It was so easy, seamless and fast. The ordering system is logical! Makes complete sense, is clear and easy to read. What you order shows up along the side so you can keep an eye on what you order and how much it is coming to. You can choose delivery or collection, delivery only costing a few euros (for example, Mamma Mia charge only €2.00, yes €2.00!! for delivery)  I was so pleasantly delighted. I’m not a complete techno-phoebe, but, crikey, I often feel so sorry for people who are nervous computer users, as most forms for submitting are a nightmare. Not this, thankfully! (I really didn’t want to have to write a scathing review either)

We were super-boring and only ordered chips (we were making a barbecue and salad too) from Mamma Mia in Athy.

(Love the choices!!!)

As we chomped through the nine bags of chips, my brothers and sisters waxed lyrical about Mamma Mia: the only “real” chipper in the area. The pizzas were made to order. Real pizza, made by real Italians (at this juncture my brother was rolling his eyes at the thought of the pizza) Everything was delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful. (The chips, by the way, were perfect: fluffy, tasty and scrumptious)

I have made a promise that the next time we are up in Athy we will order again. The order is growing by the day (“can we get a pizza each? With chips? And chicken? And burgers?”) I will be ordering through just-eat again, and I certainly will be ordering from Mamma Mia.

All in all, I found Just-Eat.ie to be a super service. Whilst there isn’t as big a selection in smaller towns, in larger towns and cities it would be a fantastic service, for choice and ease of use.

Disclosure: I received a €20 voucher to use the service for review purposes. All opinions expressed here are my own.
