Chest of Drawers Up-Cycle

While I have the paintbrushes out and cans of paint winking at me from the porch, I continued on my painted furniture up-cycling journey this week.

I had planned on painting the unit pictured in the last post, but we moved things around upstairs, our bedroom inherited a chest of drawers and I thought, if I didn’t paint it before filling it, there would be no way I would take it apart later and paint it then.

So, with my pot of Farrow and Ball (heck, it’s a large pot of paint, I’m looking forward to painting with a different colour!) I painted this anaemic looking chest of drawers. The wall behind our bed (yes! The bed that would fabulous painted red! Whatcha think, dear husband?) is a muted sage colour, the same tone as the blue-green paint (a picture from a year or two ago):

The drawers needed a couple of coats, and then some more to cover the small-boy handprints that mysteriously appeared all over it…

I really liked the decoupage paper and paint combo on the table in the last post, and I love quirky door and drawer knobs, so I decided to just decoupage the drawer knobs.
I think it worked out really well!
